The 2018 ICONIC will be held in Leibniz University of Hannover.  It is a public university located in Hannover, Germany. Founded in 1831, it is one of the largest and oldest science and technology universities in Germany.

Hannover is the capital city of the German state of Lower Saxony. With a population of 518.000, Hannover is a major centre of Northern Germany and the country's thirteenth largest city.

The city is of a national importance for an industrial country like Germany, because it annually hosts some of the biggest international fairs, like the CeBIT, the largest tech expo in the world, and the Hannover Fair, one of the world’s largest trade fairs. These exhibitions are held yearly on the Hannover fairground, the largest fairground in the world.

Hannover has also established itself to become on of the top student cities in Germany due to its numerous prestigious universities. Its most famous educational institution, the Leibniz University of Hannover, is a member of TU9, the alliance of leading Institutes of Technology in Germany. Hannover is also home to other several universities: the Hannover University of Applied Science and Arts, Hannover Medical School, the Hannover University of Music, Theatre and Media, and the Veterinary School Hannover.

The city is a home to about 25.000 students, about 4000 of which are foreign students. The indonesian students community plays an important role on this aspect: about 300 from the total foreign students in Hannover come from Indonesia, and the Indonesian Student Association in Hannover has been registered at the Leibniz University, maintaining a good partnership and annually taking part in organizing educational and cultural events together with the university since many years.
